1. Who We Are
OtterBox (“the App”) is developed and maintained by MBSoft Systems LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”). This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the App.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Data You Create (Stored Locally by Default)
All inventory data you create in OtterBox is stored locally on your device by default:
- Box names, colors, and room assignments
- Item names and descriptions
- Photos of boxes
- QR code images
- NFC tag associations
This data remains entirely under your control. If you uninstall the App, this data is deleted from your device.
2.2 Cloud Sync Data (Optional, Premium Feature)
If you purchase OtterBox Premium and choose to enable cloud sync, the following data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage) under your personal account:
- Box and item data (names, descriptions, categories, quantities, colors, rooms)
- Photos of boxes and items (only if you enable the “Sync photos” option)
- Your Google account information (name, email) for authentication
Cloud data is stored in your personal Firebase account, accessible only with your sign-in credentials. You can stop syncing at any time by signing out in the App. Your local data is always preserved regardless of sync status.
2.3 Data Collected Automatically
We use third-party services that may collect certain information automatically:

These services are operated by Google. Cloud sync services (Auth, Firestore, Storage) are only active when you explicitly sign in and enable sync. For details on how Google processes this data, see the Google Privacy Policy.
3. How We Use Information
We use automatically collected information to:
- Improve the App’s stability and performance
- Understand which features are most useful
- Display advertisements (free version only)
- Process in-app purchases
- Sync your inventory data across devices (premium, when enabled)
We do not use your data to build personal profiles, sell to third parties, or send marketing communications.
4. Advertising
The free version of OtterBox displays banner advertisements provided by Google AdMob. You can remove all ads and unlock cloud sync with a one-time OtterBox Premium purchase.
Before displaying personalized ads, we request your consent using Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) in compliance with GDPR and other applicable regulations. If you decline personalized ads, you will still see non-personalized advertisements.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. The only data shared is with the Google services listed in Section 2.2, strictly for the purposes described.
6. Data Retention
- Local data: Retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
- Cloud sync data: Retained in Firebase as long as your account is active and sync is enabled. Sign out to stop syncing; your data remains in Firebase until you request deletion.
- Analytics and crash data: Retained by Google per their standard retention policies (typically 14 months for Analytics, 90 days for Crashlytics).
- Purchase data: Retained by Google Play as part of your purchase history.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You have control over your data:
- Delete local data: Use the App’s export/delete features, or uninstall the App to remove all local data.
- Delete cloud data: Contact us at support@mbsoftsystems.com to request deletion of your cloud sync data.
- Disable cloud sync: Sign out in Settings to stop syncing. Your local data is preserved.
- Opt out of analytics: Disable usage data sharing in your device’s Google settings.
- Opt out of personalized ads: Decline consent when prompted, or adjust ad personalization in your device’s Google settings.
- Reset advertising ID: Reset or delete your advertising ID in your device’s Privacy settings.
8. Children’s Privacy
OtterBox is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
9. Data Security
All network communications between the App and third-party services use HTTPS encryption. Your local inventory data is stored in the App’s private storage area on your device, protected by Android’s built-in sandboxing.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
